Good analysis. Jim Jordan scares the heck out of me, Scalise less so. Bacon is my choice, given that he works across the aisle. And we need more bipartisanship.
Firstly, thank you! And secondly I’m in the same boat to an extent. I feel like Scalise and Jordan are incredibly close on policy but that Jordan would turn the median voter off moreso than Scalise. So if your goal is to secure a Democratic majority in the next Congress then Jordan probably helps that.
Bacon as a compromise candidate would be fascinating to see - even as I suspect he would be torn apart by the GOP. But given we’re in a period of breaking convention it would be nice to see something like Speaker Bacon come to fruition
If you bring home the Bacon, you’re on. The Republican pickle is what comes when you try to act as a majority, but you’re really an unstable coalition. In a parliamentary system we could have a caretaker government and an election. But that’s no necessary fix, given many examples of long-running repeated cycles.
The Speaker’s chair may be a greater fool situation for Jordan. Simply by doing the bare minimum of keeping the House lights burning he will depriving the Bomb Squad of easy targets. Beyond passing DOA legislation to the Senate, which Jordan probably has no problem doing, where’s the leverage?
American here so please believe me when I say who the hell knows. It’s frustrating and embarrassing that we have enough crazy people (who were somehow elected to Congress) that our government barely functions. Jordan is simply a chaos agent and he’s also not smart so anyone but him seems.... maybe better. Scalise is smart but has some scary beliefs.

A girl can dream, can’t she?

Interesting. Yes, A girl can dream.
Interesting take on the chaos
